Disinfectant Fogging

Has a work colleague or member of staff recently tested positive for coronavirus in your office or commercial premises? Considering you have a workforce to take over from the next day, while the other staff self-isolates at home, thena Blue Pear Emergency Decontamination is just the service your business needs. We can be in and out quickly, to get your business ready for the next working day. This service is suitable for containment of an office outbreak of highly infectious pathogens such as those causing diarrhoea & vomiting or C. Difficile.

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses causing a spectrum of disease ranging from the common cold to the more severe diseases as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, is spread by human-to-human transmission via respiratory droplets (saliva or mucus) or direct contact. Naturally, humans produce respiratory droplets by breathing, talking, sneezing or coughing. Droplet size and mass vary; smaller and lighter droplets can remain suspended in the air for significant periods of time, while larger heavier droplets fall rapidly to the ground under gravity, and are therefore transmitted only over a limited distance, in the Coronavirus case <2m.

What is Disinfectant Fogging?

A mist of food-safe disinfectant is sprayed into the space, gently coating every object in its path, giving it protection against bacteria, fungi and viruses for up to 4 weeks. At Blue Pear, we use a hospital-grade disinfectant that is bleach-free and alcohol-free and will not stain or discolour fabric material.

Why Disinfectant Fogging?

It is ideal for large premises with high-traffic and many high-touch points such as cinemas; gymns & sports centres. In schools, specifically, due to the large number of objects of different shapes and sizes situated within a classroom, it would be more efficient to choose this method. People who are immunocompromised or have been classed as Clinically Vulnerable are at an elevated risk of acquiring infections; therefore this approach helps to minimise this risk within their home.

Safety is Key

  • All Blue Pear personnel are COSHH trained, and processes have been put in place to eliminate/control risks to ensure the health and wellbeing of staff

  • Disinfectants comply with the HSE’s Biocidal Products Regulations (BPR)

  • (Pre-disinfection) Removing persons and pets from the room to be treated

  • Closing windows, dusting & wiping down everything

  • Covering/isolating all electrical equipment

  • Sealing off the room to avoid the risk of human exposure to the treatment

  • Administering the mist of 10 microns in droplet size, via a ULV (cold) Fogger

  • (Post-disinfection) A further 30 mins allows the mist to settle onto the interior surfaces

  • The room is then ventilated

  • Lastly, ATP/QAC test is carried out to show the number of germs (if any) left within the treated area. This result allows you to reopen your facility with the confidence that your premises are clinically clean.

We do not disinfect large outdoor areas.

Droplet-size from ULV Fogger

A micrometre (or micron) is a millionth of a metre (or 0.00004 inches). The average human hair strand is 70 microns thick (diameter), which is 7 x bigger than the droplets size of 10 microns administered by our ulv cold foggers.
